Capture, accumulation and transmission of bacterial resistance genes are largely associated with mobile genetic elements such as plasmids, integrons, and transposons 1, 2. In the genomics era, researchers have the opportunity to understand mobile genetic elements and associated resistance genes at a genomic level, which needs in-depth bioinformatics and comparative genomics analyses. DANMEL is a manually curated reference database for analyzing sequenced mobile genetic elements in bacteria. DANMEL is mainly composed of REMED (reference mobile element database) and MEAP (mobile element annotation pipeline) and additionally provides SEARCH/BLAST functions.
